Fun, quirky battery data challenges for FRC teams—because who doesn't love random stats?

About the Competition

Enter your robot's battery data from any official FIRST Robotics Competition match in 2026! All data must be collected using the Playing With Fusion Battery Fuel Gauge (BFG).

The BFG automatically logs precise Ah consumption, RMS current, peak current, and more—perfect for these silly-yet-scientific categories. Match timing is estimated by the BFG based on current draw (it won't match official FRC timing exactly),

Winners announced May 6, 2026!

Important Notes – Safety First!

This is a fun side contest only. Never jeopardize your match performance, alliance strategy, robot safety, or FRC event goals just to chase these awards. Prioritize safe, competitive play at the actual event—these stats are just extra entertainment!

The goal is to highlight the awesome capabilities of Playing With Fusion's FRC products, especially the Battery Fuel Gauge, while having a laugh with some random battery trivia.

How to Enter

  • Compete in any official 2026 FRC event.
  • Use a Playing With Fusion Battery Fuel Gauge to log battery data during a match.
  • Submit your data:
    • Via the roboRIO's onboard web interface (easiest!), or
    • Manually upload your BFG JSON battery data file below.
  • Multiple submissions per team are allowed (and encouraged for some categories!).

Award Categories & Prizes

  • Hydrogen times Pi — Closest to consuming exactly 4.462 Ah in a match.
(Calculated as end-of-match DOD minus start-of-match DOD)
    Prize: Free Battery Fuel Gauge!

  • Lord of the Pies — RMS discharge current closest to π x 10 = 31.415 Amps over the match.
    Prize: Free Battery Fuel Gauge!

  • Eager Beaver — Team with the most valid data submissions across the season.
Only one submission per battery charge/discharge cycle will be applied toward this goal
    Prize: CAN wiring kit featuring IDC connection blocks for quick, robust connections (2x IFB-10013, 2x IFB-10014, 2x IFB-10015, 2x IFB-10016, 2x IFB-10010 CAN terminators)

  • Eco-warrior — Highest alliance points per Ah consumed in a single match.
    Prize: Power distribution kit (2x PWR-20001, 1x PWR-10002, 1x PWR-10001)

  • Amp Annihilator — Highest peak current recorded during any match.
Prize: Pair of SEN-36005 distance sensors

*Data is self-reported via BFG uploads and subject to verification. Ties broken by earliest submission. Full season leaderboard will update regularly!
