Description

Analog thermocouple amplifier board based on the AD849x from Analog Devices (successor of the AD597). This quad-channel thermocouple board converts the very low voltage signal from thermocouples to a highly-linear, 0.005V/°C output with 2.05V offset (0°C = 2.05V output). The output signal range is from 1.2V to 8.8V that covers the entire -260C - 1380 °C operating range of the K-type thermocouple. Simply connect a power supply (5-32V, wide input range) to the board, plug in your thermocouples with the mini thermocouple connectors and connect the outputs to your data acquisition system or even your Arduino!

Applications

  • Automotive data acquisition (exhaust, coolant, brakes, etc)
  • Industrial instrumentation
  • Oven temperature measurements
  • Home brew setups
  • Other hobby projects
    • 5V power supply allows use with Arduino power supply
    • Output may need to be suppressed to prevent 9.9V open circuit from overvolting ADCs in certain systems

Features

  • Measures -260C-1380C (extended range)
  • Ttc = ((Vout - 2.05) * 0.005)°C
  • Analog output with high cutoff frequency
  • Measure rapid changes in temperature, such as exhaust temp during a drag race, that most sensors can't detect
  • Supply voltage range: 5 - 32V with full reverse polarity protection
  • ± 2°C linearity from -20 - 400°C ( -4 - 752°F) without correction
  • ± 16°C linearity from -100 - 1300°C (-148 - 2372°F) without correction
  • Correction tables are available, full range accuracy to ± 1°C
  • Open thermocouple goes to full-scale output (~9.9V)
  • Mounting holes for 4-40 sized screws (see Related Products below)
  • Screw terminals sized for PH0 phillips screw driver
  • Designed, manufactured, tested and shipped from the USA
